Our first at work branch in Greater Manchester opens
December 1st heralded the opening of our first at work branch in Greater Manchester. The Heywood branch was commissioned to help people from those deprived local wards that make up the New Deal for Communities – New Heart for Heywood – area.
Already the team – an experienced Branch Manager, Account Manager and two locally recruited Candidate Consultants – have been working hard setting up systems, building relationships with employers and Partners and getting to know the local area. As well as working closely with the NDC, NRF and ERDF, they’ve attended local networking events, established a system for referrals with Jobcentre Plus and secured a number of live vacancies.
Branch Manager Andy Cowburn is delighted with progress so far. “The response from the local community has been excellent and we’ve also had a very positive reaction from employers within the travel to work area. Over half of our vacancies are with national employers like First Bus, B&Q and Chubb Security, while a number of other local employers plan to use us as soon as they’re ready to recruit in the New Year. It’s been a very strong start for the branch – particularly given the time of year we opened.”
