Shoreditch smashes service sector target

at work completes Hackney project in just three months

Just three months after being re-commissioned to deliver a Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF) project for Hackney, the at work team in Shoreditch hit its job placement target a staggering nine months ahead of schedule. After successfully placing 50 harder to reach residents in the seven months to March 2006 via the ‘Satisfying Service Sector Skills Shortages’ project, the team was commissioned to support a further 21. But such was the demand from both employers and residents seeking employment, at work achieved its target by July, well ahead of schedule.

Clearly the project has been a tremendous success. Says Mukesh Oza, Business & Marketing Development Manager, “It’s responded effectively to market demands for service sector employees and that’s particularly encouraging for Hackney in the run-up to the London Olympic Games as today’s job entries could very well be managers in the sector by 2012.”
