talent! and at work win the ATL Award for Diversity

talent! and at work have picked up the ATL Diversity Award 2006 against stiff competition from several hundred small- and medium-sized businesses across Yorkshire. The award, for outstanding success in diversity, was presented at the ATL Enterprise and Diversity Awards at the Yorkshire Enterprise and Diversity Convention in November. It recognises our commitment to and performance in diversity, both internally and through our work in minority communities. To win it, we had to give the judging panel an in-depth break-down of our diversity initiatives and achievements and the benefits they’ve generated.

This year the Convention highlighted the economic impact of embracing diversity. Attended by over 500 minority ethnic entrepreneurs, key stakeholders from the region, political and community representatives and small business owners and professionals, it celebrated the success, achievements and contributions of this diverse regional community. Keynote speakers included Tom Riordan, Chief Executive of Yorkshire Forward, Edward Stanners, Chairman of the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative and Amjad Perwez, Chairman of ATL.

ATL aims to make sure that opportunities for enterprise are open to all: young, old, disabled, male or female, whatever their location or ethnic origin. Its work increases the participation of disadvantaged communities in enterprise, education and training, raises skill levels, helps businesses get established and improves community cohesion.
